Food: Lung ta: I tried their Tuesday Special Set - Sushi Roll, Thursday Special Set - Tempura, Milk Tea, Guava Chia Seeds Juice, and curry rice. The Guava Chia Seeds Juice is nice; I had it twice on the same day, and the mushroom, carrot, and potato curry without egg —it always made me feel satisfied. When I first came here, I really enjoyed their milk tea and suggested it to my Japanese friend —however, he found it normal, yet the next day he liked it. Then, after visiting a few times, I found the taste of the tea changed, but when they are in the mood to make nice tea, then the tea is one of the best teas here in Meclodganj. Also, in my last visit, I had their lemon curd — which is more of a lemon bar: Lemon curd on Shortbread —sweet but too sweet. However, in Meclodganj, I only found this dessert at the Japanese restaurant Lung Ta. Whenever I am there, I order their Indian origin but Japanese-style curry rice —even on my 24th birthday, I ordered the same dish no matter if I was trying other things. This Indian-origin dish is so popular in Japan that it is called a national dish — All credit goes to our beloved Britishers.
Vibe: Lung ta the wind horse, next to an old Tibetan office building, and that's why their exterior red colour Masonry wall — with a square window and multiple rectangular windows — between the windows is a wooden door to enter the restaurant, and above that there is a Lung ta vegetarian Japanese restaurant signboard with a wind horse. And when you enter the restaurant — you will witness the vintage interior, huge bookshelves with Japanese books and a few Tibetan ones—just like the couple who host the place: a Japanese lady and a Tibetan guy — and these texts play a major part in building their atmosphere. But one of my Japanese friend told me: a few books from the collection are useful —from these he found an old traveller's guide of Meclod—where he discovered: Meclod Bar and restaurant to sit and have 'Coke'. That book's visible text was the main element of their vintage Japanese atmosphere, with a sumo picture and floor seating. Also, nowadays they made a sitting area outside of it on their neighbour's rooftop.
Hygiene: Their washroom was not clean, but I hadn't visited there yet with the mindset to check hygiene. But once my friend told me— If their washroom is that dirty, then what hygiene were they maintaining in the kitchen.
Work: It opens at 12 and closes at 5:30 —5 hours 30 mins. You can’t sit there for long because, in season, a lot of people come there between 12 and 3 for lunch. After 3, it starts getting fewer people. And if you sit there for a long time from 12 to 3—the owner will definitely say something.
